Lancaster Co. -- Adult Female Rufous in Quarryville - a 3-peat hummer
ALREADY BANDED
FO Early August/17 ↔ LO ?

On Mon Aug 21st, Scott Weidensaul posted on PABirds that he caught and confirmed as a 3rd-yr returnee a banded adult female Rufous in Quarryville at the home of Doug & Terri Elvey. This hummer was first noticed as "different" in early August but not reported as a Selasphorus until August 14th. Scott believes that this is PA's 1st 3-yr returnee, and I concur!

The RUHU was still present as of Thurs Oct 12th as reported by Terri (email).

On Fri Oct 27th, Bob Schutsky posted on PABirds that he and his wife visited the Elveys and observed the RUHU.

Union Co. -- Imm Male Rubythroat in Lewisburg
BANDED 10/18/17 by Sandy L
FO 10/16/17 ↔ LO 10/19/17

Brent Bacon posted on Fb on Oct 16th and 17th photos of a ping-pong ball shaped hummer feeding on pineapple sage in his yard. He again posted in-hand photos of the humbanding by Sandy Lockerman as a HY-F Calliope on Wed Oct 18th. Sandy L also posted the CAHU-??? banding on PABirds.

On Thursday, Oct 19th, Sandy Lockerman posted this on PABirds: "There is a growing amount of doubt as to the species of hummingbird in Lewisburg. Discussions are occurring with banders with more experience with Calliopes. An attempt is being made to retrap the bird for another look at additional characteristics on the bird. I will post again when a decision is made."

Additionally, I sent Sheri Williamson the links to Brent's comparison pix from 9/30 and 10/17 and the banding pix (in-hand) posted by Sandy Lockerman. Here are Sheri's responses:
Re: Comparison Pix -- Um, I'm not seeing a Calliope in any of those photos. :(
Re: Banding Pix -- Definitely not a Calliope. Sandy should check the measurements against normal ranges for the two species.

AFTER FURTHER REVIEW: The ID has been changed to HYM-RTHU! This was posted on PABirds by Sandy Lockerman on Thurs Oct 19th. And Brent Bacon posted on Fb that the RTHU was LOed the morning of Thurs Oct 19th.
