Carbon Co. -- Possible Black-chinned in Beltsville State Park
(not banded) -- OBS 5/7/00


A possible Black-chin was observed by Dave Hawk and another experienced birder in Beltsville SP. DH had previous experience with observing BCHUs in the western US, and he and his friend were both positive they saw purple/violet at the base of the hummer's gorget. A camera was retrieved and pix were taken, but they could not be sure they were photographing the same hummer. (PA Birds Vol 14 No 2 pg 116-7)

McKean Co. -- Probable Adult Male Rufous in Bradford

Monroe Co. -- Adult Female Rufous in McMichaels/Jackson Twnshp (Pocono Mtns area)
(not banded) -- FO 11/4/00 ↔ LO 12/3/00


A possible imm male Rufous Hummingbird was seen visiting a feeder at the home of Lorraine and Mark Anderson in the Pocono Mtns. area.
Comments from the host about visitors: "You mean there'd be people here visiting during the day when we're not home? Just to look at a hummingbird???!!! And this comment was accompanied by a look of utter disbelief and consternation.
One interesting observation was that this bird was seen feeding on suet by John Serrao on an unspecified date.

A possible Black-chin was videotaped by Larry Brown in Jobs Corner near the NY border (PA Birds Vol 14 No 3.)

Tioga Co. -- Possible Adult Male Allen's in Jobs Corner
(not banded) -- FO 6/9/00 ↔ LO 6/12/00


A Selasphorus hummer was observed for 3 days in northern Tioga Co. which performed the display flight of an Allen's Hummingbird. (PA Birds Vol 14 No 3) The record was not accepted by the PORC (PA Birds Vol 15 No 3) because they felt that other Selasphorus species could not be ruled out.

Westmoreland Co. -- Unidentified R/A Hummer in Greensburg
(not banded) -- FO late-Oct. '00 ↔ LO mid-Nov. '00


An unidentified Selasphorus Hummingbird was reported visiting a feeder in Greensburg for several weeks in late October into November 2000 by Louise Carroll.
